We are the Salt Lake chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and are open to all in Utah. At the Salt Lake DSA, we are striving to build a more democratic and equitable world.
Our society is currently dominated by the capitalist class, who disproportionately maintain control of our government, state, workplaces, and media. In order to change that, we must organize millions of workers into struggle against their oppressors in all sectors of society. Through that struggle, they will gain an understanding of the nature of our society, acquire the skills necessary to win, and build democratic mass organizations which can contend with the capitalist class.

We at Salt Lake DSA believe that we must organize to protect and advance the rights of the working class. Our members have organized unions, boycotts, educational events, mutual aid, and electoral campaigns. Through these smaller struggles, we aim to build a powerful and far-sighted movement to change the world.
Capitalism is the problem, and socialism is the answer. Everyone has a role to play in the mass movement. Salt Lake DSA is democratic and member led, organized into Working Groups, Committees, and Branches. The work and political direction of the organization is determined by a democratic process, unlike the capitalist parties.
If you’re not sure where to start, attend a DSA 101 (on the events calendar) or send us an email and we can set up a 1 on 1 conversation between you and an experienced worker-activist. No previous organizing experience is required; the point is to learn and grow together through struggle.
